Sustainability
Explore sustainable design approaches through practical work. This could be working in a team on real-world problems in developing countries as part of the Engineering for People Design Challenge, or site visits to locations like Clays Lake flood prevention scheme.
Practical learning
Work with students in interdisciplinary project teams on industry-based scenarios, using facilities that include a hydraulics lab with flume, concrete lab, soils lab, geotechnical centrifuge, and dynamics lab.
Our students have been on placement in organisations including: Mackley, Laing O’Rourke, Balfour Beatty, Mott MacDonald, and Southern Water.
Inspiring research
Learn with staff who are practising researchers. Explore case studies drawn from their research and contribute to work such as the development of novel techniques to protect existing infrastructure from natural disasters.
