Each Fellowship is hosted by one of the partner universities. The successful Fellows will be based at their host university from the beginning of January for 13 months. They will be provided a with a studio within the art department, access to workshop and library facilities and supported by a mentor.
Freelands Studio Fellowships run in partnership with:

- University of Wales Trinity Saint David: Swansea College of Art.
The focus of the Fellowships is on sustained development of practice, alongside which Fellows will engage with current students, supporting staff in undertaking workshops, crits and tutorials as well as having the opportunity to deliver at least one artist’s talk.
Each Fellow will receive a bursary of £22,000 for the duration of the Fellowship. They will work towards a solo exhibition, housed by their host university, and will then participate in a group exhibition, at the Freelands Foundation space in London.
Applicants may only apply to one of the proposed Fellowships and may not apply to a university that they themselves have studied at, so Brighton Alumni cannot take up the Fellowship at Brighton. Initial .
