The treatment involves swallowing a sachet containing tiny carbon beads that are designed to remove toxins produced by bacteria in the gut and stop them attacking the liver.
The Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯ jointly developed the patent for this technology with UCL and a industry partner, and is also a partner in the Carbalive Consortium, an international collaboration set up to establish the safety and efficacy of the novel oral carbon therapy.
