Dr Daniel Burdsey will explore how and why the English seaside is often mistakenly seen as a discrimination-free zone “ignoring the experiences of minority ethnic seaside communities”.
Dr Burdsey, Reader and Deputy Head (Research) of the Ï㽶ֱ²¥’s School of Sport and Service Management, is giving a public lecture at the National Maritime Museum in London on 12 July as part the Great British Seaside exhibition.
Dr Burdsey has spent a decade investigating race, whiteness and the English seaside, culminating in his second monograph, Race, Place and the Seaside: Postcards from the Edge (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016).
