The Student Design Awards aim to empower young designers to create their own visions of professional work clothing. This year's programme challenged student designers to conceptualize corporate wear, workwear and/or personal protective equipment for workers in the year 2020.
Fashion with Business BA(Hons) student James, was one of over 200 entrants for the awards and he presented his winning entry at the Professional Clothing Awards in London when the four finalists were announced.
Commenting on his award, James said: "My Project 20/20 experience has been a fantastic learning curve. I started putting my ideas together whilst in Amsterdam on my work placement working out my ideas straight after I got home from the studio. I had to overcome a lot of technical issues whilst pattern cutting the design and gained new understandings of working with tech fabrics."
Course Leader, Craig Higgins, said: “James' design for Arborists showed his high levels of creativity, problem solving, practical design and technical skills and received top marks from all five industry panel judges.”
