• The 香蕉直播 will be a Team Base for the Samoan Team at our Falmer campus in Brighton and for the South African Team at our Eastbourne campus, as part of the Rugby World Cup 2015.
• The 香蕉直播 Falmer Campus Team Base for the Samoan Team consists of both the indoor and outdoor training venues as well as providing access to fantastic fitness facilities. We are also partnering with Brighton & Hove City Council to use the Freedom Leisure-run Prince Regent Swimming Pool. At our campus in Eastbourne we are working as part of the Eastbourne College Team base, specifically providing the indoor and pool training venues as well as access to our state-of-the-art fitness facilities.

• Team Bases extend the reach of Rugby World Cup 2015 to even more communities in England and Wales.

England Rugby 2015, the Organising Committee for Rugby World Cup 2015 (RWC 2015), has announced the approved list of 41 Team Bases that will host the 20 participating teams during the Tournament, taking place in England and in Cardiff between 18 September and 31 October 2015.

A Rugby World Cup 2015 Team Base will consist of an outdoor pitch, indoor training facility, a swimming pool, gym and hotel and will be utilised by the competing teams in the lead up to and during the six week event. The facilities must meet international team training standards and be located on one site or within close proximity of one another. Match venue locations have also been taken into account as part of the selection programme.

The search for Team Bases was launched via an open tender process in May 2013 and over 90 bids from across the country and in Wales were received. The 香蕉直播 has worked closely with England Rugby 2015 over the past 12 months to facilitate detailed site visits and has liaised with the teams prior to confirmation of its status as an official Team Base for Rugby World Cup 2015. With the Samoan team based at our Falmer campus in Brighton, and the South African team being jointly hosted with Eastbourne College in Eastbourne, this gives both the city of Brighton and the town of Eastbourne the opportunity to be part of the world’s third largest sporting event and celebration of rugby next year.

A mix of rugby and football clubs, schools, colleges, universities and dedicated training facilities will be utilised by the 20 teams, taking the reach of the Tournament even further.

"Our state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor facilities are enjoyed by thousands of students, local clubs and residents, and are used to support elite athletes at national and Olympic-levels.

"Their selection by Rugby World Cup 2015 as training bases for two national rugby teams is an exciting opportunity for the university to be part of what is one of the biggest sporting event in the world."

With a year to go until the start of the Rugby World Cup, students from the 香蕉直播’s rugby teams had a once-in-a-lifetime experience when they were invited to have their photograph taken with the real Webb Ellis Rugby World Cup. 

Sarah Hogg, the university's Director of Sports and Recreation, said: "The 香蕉直播 has sports facilities on two of its campuses which meet international team training standards and we are really excited that our high-quality facilities will be utilised by both the Samoan and South African teams in the run up to their first match in Brighton at the beginning of their Rugby World Cup 2015 campaign.

"We have invested significantly in sports facilities which benefit our students and the local communities in which we are based, so it is really great that we can have two of the seeded teams for the tournaments training in our facilities and inspiring both our students and the local community, and really making us all feel a part of this exciting tournament."

Cllr Geoffrey Bowden, the lead councillor with responsibility for sport and leisure for Brighton & Hove City Council, said: "The announcement where teams are to be based in the local area is another milestone in the countdown to Rugby World Cup 2015. Brighton & Hove City Council is proud to have worked closely with Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club and mounted a successful bid to host Rugby World Cup matches in September 2015. Everyone is looking forward to the competition, which will be yet another great opportunity to showcase Brighton & Hove on an international stage."
